The Tamil people must not repeat the mistakes they made earlier in the upcoming Local Government (LG) Elections, said Eelam People’s Revolutionary Liberation Front (EPRLF) Leader and former MP Suresh Premachandran, on 27 March, in Chavakachcheri, Jaffna.
Premachandran made these remarks during an event organised to introduce the candidates who are contesting the upcoming LG Polls under the ‘Conch’ symbol of the Democratic Tamil National Alliance (DTNA) in the Jaffna District.
“The upcoming LG Elections take importance in all aspects, and it cannot be underestimated as at an election to elect the members for local government institutions. The ruling parties will be in full swing and will try to capture all LG bodies using their manpower, financial strength and military power,” Premachandran said.
He pointed out that not only candidates but also the parties can carry out unscrupulous campaigns, and you must secure the victory by carrying out your election campaigns in full swing, knowing this fact.
Premachandran said, “Our nominations for certain LG bodies have been temporarily suspended, and we have filed cases with the Supreme Court seeking justice. It can be hoped that within a few days, judgments can be delivered in our favour. After the judgment, we will be able to do propaganda independently in all parts of the district, where we have paid for nominations.”(ceylontoday)
